A "Qualified Domestic Relations Order," or "QDRO," is a particular type of court order which is needed to divide a tax qualified defined contribution plan
(such as a 401(k) plan or a money purchase pension plan). A QDRO may be used to divide a participant's account balance under a plan for the purposes of
satisfying an award of marital property, alimony or a child support obligation.
